The household waste removal is a convenient device in your home kitchen. But because it is used daily, it needs to be replaced after normal wear to a certain extent. The design of the protective cover prevents debris and water from flying upwards when crushed by the handler. Replacing the splash guard in a home waste disposal can be a challenging process, but having the right information will make it easier. Here is how to replace the protective cover of the electronic garbage disposal.
1. Make sure that the power supply controlling the garbage disposer is turned off.
When your safety is threatened, you do not want to take any unnecessary risks. Because the household rubbish disposal is powered by a power source, you must turn off its power in the event of a failure to prevent injury.
Remove from the drain pipe fixed on the side of the automatic garbage disposal. In most cases, this will require a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the fastener. Loosen the screws by turning the screws counterclockwise until each screw comes out of the sink waste disposal device. Then remove the drain hose by hand.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to wedge it between the ears so that the trash can and the sink touch each other. Push each in about a quarter turn in a clockwise direction. The kitchen waste disposer should remove itself from the sink mount and fall into the "nest" built for this purpose.
This is a crucial step. Use your hand to reach the garbage disposal site and remove the rubber splash guard.
Since you are ready to dispose of the garbage, now is the best time to do some maintenance work. Use a small flashlight to look at your household waste disposal site and make sure that no foreign objects fall into it. If you find anything, you can use needle-nose pliers to remove it.
Before doing this, make sure that the old and new splash plates are the same size. The incorrect size of the splash guard will cause the waste disposer to leak. If the size is correct, simply slide the new replacement splash guard into the waste disposal site.
Now is the time to put everything back together. Return the processing unit to the ‘unlocked’ position. Rotate the device clockwise to re-fix it in the flange. Now use a flat-head screwdriver to re-fix the fasteners in place. Once the sink food waste disposer is firmly installed, the drain pipe can be reconnected by simply reversing the disassembly steps. Check carefully to make sure everything is properly protected.
8. Reopen the circuit breaker switch.
For the last step, turn on the circuit breaker switch again. Turn on the cold water and let it run down the sink for a few minutes. Carefully observe the splash guard and the unit under the sink to make sure there are no leaks. Turn the food waste disposal unit over and let it run for one minute. If it works, congratulations! You are officially finished.
