Usually the food waste disposer is installed under the sink, and kitchen garbage will be ground and flowed into the sewer through the sewage pipe. It can easily keep kitchen cleaning. Though the kitchen waste disposer is basically a maintenance-free device with very low maintenance rate and durability, some small problems still exist such as flywheels, hoses and seals, and worn impellers. Today, we will tell you some maintenance methods for reference.
1. Flywheels
We know that the rotation of flywheel of home waste disposal drives the impeller, and then cuts the food waste. If the flywheel cannot be turned, the home waste disposer will be useless. In addition, if the flywheel stays for too long, it may also burn out the motor. Generally, the flywheel is very easy to loosen. If there is problem for flywheel, you may first check if there is a hexagonal hole at the bottom of the waste disposer. If so, you need look for a hex wrench to rotate the motor shaft and flywheel, and insert the hex wrench into the hexagonal hole, and then turn it left and right to loosen the flywheel. This eliminates the need to disassemble your home garbage disposal.
2. The repair of hoses and seals
People often complain that food waste disposal leaks water into the cabinet below. By studying the leaked water and its location, it is generally possible to know its reason. If the stagnant water contains food stains, it means that the drain pipe or the dishwasher water inlet is leaking. If the water is always warm, it probably comes from the dishwasher. If the water is clear, it may be water that has not yet entered the household garbage disposer in the sink.
How to solve this problem? First of all, place your hands on different positions of the processor. Sometimes you can feel the water flowing through the palm of your hand, so you can determine the location of the leak. If the leakage occurs under the garbage disposer, it may be that water has penetrated into the motor through the flywheel seal. In this case, it is necessary to remove the waste disposer from the drainage system. Next, disassemble the device and replace the seal. You can also ask a professional to help repairing.
3. Repair worn impeller
First, unplug the home garbage processor from the power source. Remember to disconnect the circuit breaker. If household waste disposal is directly connected to the room, you need to disconnect the fuse in the main junction box.
Second, remove all the inlet and outlet hose fittings of the household garbage disposal. At this time, some garbage disposers can be detached from the backing ring under rotation, and then removed. Some need to unscrew the screws on the backing ring.
Third, in many models, the flywheel needs to be removed when repairing the worn impeller. You can fix the flywheel with a screwdriver, and then loosen the lock nut of the flywheel.
Last, after removing the flywheel, the impeller can be removed and polished. If the impeller cannot be polished, the entire flywheel assembly needs to be replaced.
